At an altitude of 110 m above sea level, the Brauneberger Juffer extends from the Moselle to 170 m around the rock in the middle of the Juffer. The sundial mounted there gives the vineyard its name. Due to the sheltered location and the enormous slope of up to 80%, a special microclimate prevails in this steep vineyard, which has always allowed the grapes to ripen particularly well. Over 60 years ago, the grandfather of winemaker Heiner Bollig planted Riesling vines there, which thrive on the grey-blue Devonian slate soil. The perfectly healthy, ripe grapes are harvested by hand and immediately brought to the press. The resulting must is then fermented in the cool winery cellar with native yeasts.
