Especially in such varied vintages as 2023, with a dry-warm start to the growing season and a wet-cool summer, old vines pay off. Due to their deep roots, the vines had no problems in April and May, and the developing grapes were not overly inflated by the suddenly abundant water from June to August, thus retaining their concentration and aroma.  Stefan Müller's picking team therefore had little to select out, and the perfectly healthy grapes were gently pressed immediately after harvest and spontaneously fermented the following day in the cool wooden barrel cellar.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003eThe enchanting nose reveals captivating citrus aromas such as lemon zest and grapefruit, with ripe pear and white peach, as well as delicate floral hints of white lilac and subtle herbal nuances reminiscent of anise. On the palate, the wine presents itself wonderfully precise and invigorating, with the lively acidity combined with the fine residual sweetness leaving a truly mouth-watering impression. The complex wine is supported by its excellent structure and shows a long and expressive finish. Initially, it shows a hint of reduction and quite smoky notes, and needs a couple of minutes to reveal scents of pink grapefruit, pear, greengage, almond cream, jasmine, wet stone, and yellow flowers. The wine is quite compact on the palate, with considerable dry extract and intensity, and leaves a focused and almost taut feeling of spices and citrus fruits in the long finish. This is still very much a work in progress and will need a good decade to fully develop.
