Planted in 1923, the 100-year-old, ungrafted vines are deeply rooted in the meager gray slate soil and reliably deliver small, loose-berried, highly aromatic grapes year after year. After the obligatory whole cluster pressing, the must is spontaneously fermented in traditional fuder barrels and rests on its full lees until bottling in January of the following year. The result is an exciting, off-dry Saar Riesling with captivating aromatics:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFinely scented, crystal-clear yellow fruit nose with aromas of red-cheeked apples, yellow stone fruit like mirabelle plum and peach, and beguiling exotic fruit notes reminiscent of passion fruit and kiwi – all underpinned by cool, slaty spice notes.
