About the wine

"The 2024 Schonfels Kabinett N°111, as it is referred to in the central part of the label, was made from fruit harvested in this steep, south-east facing Lieu-Dit overseeing the Saar, and was fermented down to off-dry levels of residual sugar (25 g/l). It offers a quite herbal and smoky nose of almonds, white pepper, smoke, thyme, lime, and anise. The wine proves nicely fruity and juicy on the palate, with a delicate creamy side. It remains very well balanced and juicy in the nicely long finish. This is a superbly drinking Kabinett. 2028-2044" 92P

über: Peter Lauer Faß 111 Schonfels Kabinett 2024
"Peter Lauers Faß 111 Schonfels Riesling Kabinett 2024 is an exceptional wine – a Kabinett beyond all conventions. With its remarkable depth, dark spice, and mineral tension, its seriousness is more reminiscent of a Grosses Gewächs. And yet it retains the dancing lightness, the delicate sweetness-acidity balance, and the playful elegance that is unique to the best Kabinetts. It is a wine full of contrasts – powerful and yet finely chiseled, structured yet weightlessly light. A Kabinett that rethinks the predicate and leaves a long-lasting impression with its strong character. Unmistakable, original, and highly recognizable – a true statement from Schonfels!"

We will then arrange for the correct wine to be sent and discuss with you whether you would like to return the incorrect bottle or keep it, for which we will gladly make you an offer.

The clear crystals in your wine are tartrate crystals. These crystals form through the crystallization of potassium bitartrate, a natural component of wine that can form during the aging process. Tartrate crystals are completely harmless and do not affect the taste or quality of the wine. You can simply let the crystals settle and pour carefully, or remove them by decanting.
